Do a leak down on the head and see if you get air back into the cooling system. IF you do, you have a bhg.
With a chipped fin on the turbo, it could possibly be out of balance causing the thing to billow smoke.
Great job so far, but the down pipe needs a little work. Great idea, wrong fabrication. The 90 exit on the cutout will "possbily" do nothing more in helping your exhaust than making alot of noise.
I doubt you have spark.
Check to make sure there are the (4 wires, 2 and 2 paired together) brown and white grounds back on the head and ARE TIGHT.
The only other thing that would keep you from starting is you
A.) Have a bad afm
B.) Hooked the fuel lines up wrong
C.) Blown EFI fuse
Like Orion stated, it depends on your climate.
If you were to run straight 50w in 30 or below, you have a good chance of blowing seals because the oil would be running 80+psi untill it had a chance to warm up. And I don't mean you starting the car and letting it idle for 20 minutes.
For any thing turbo, try and stay away from oils that have a high range of viscositys (sp?)
Stay with a 10w30 or 20w50. Better yet, stay with a straight 30 weight for winter and a straight 50 weight for summer.
Mine is tight, I just don't like how it has a "dead spot" in it where you have to push it hard enough to make the cable move and then the car vrooms forward.
Ok how about an auto cross event at an abandoned run way airport? Its scca, and has been run every sunday for about 4 years now.
Great place.
As for dyno, we need some of the mk4 indy guys to hook us up with dyno time at one of the indy shops.
We could also do something at IRP for drag...
I get all the used or unsold racing t shirts from the local grassroots race teams around here. You can pick up like 10 of them for $25. You look like a hillbilly, but hell they are new and no one else has them so ol'well.
Is the turbo rebuilt? Or did you have one blown and then removed it? If its rebuilt, its a possable bad turbo. If the previous turbo blew, your lower IC pipe is filled with oil.
Also, make sure you have the right size turbo oil drain and make sure the center housing is straight up and down.
WEll here goes my best stab at it...
Most STI engines from japan are 2.0 turbo. The sti when brought here to the US was 2.5ltr turbo. The Legacy in japan called the liberty is 2.0 twin turbo.
:-)
Don't do it. The turbo is the SAME turbo that SSautojunk has and is made by the same company. They are made in china, and are actually NOT FOR BOOSTING ON A VEHICHLE!
They will come apart into two pieces because they are glued together.
Homeboy, as discussed, its better just to recruit people for CHI2k6.
You dont' want the responsability of putting together a dyno day and car show yada ayda yada for a true meet.
Just have a mini meet.....
