Alright i tore the box down and didnt immediately see anything wrong, but as soon as i had the main shaft out of the centre case i saw one of the snaprings had come loose and moved the gear a couple mm up the shaft.
New clip where it should be. I made sure i hit this inward every couple mm...
I changed the oil to a 75w-90 Penrite gear oil. Was running a 75w-85 before. When i dropped the oil it had shazings in it but nothing more than what was in there each gear change before. Ill take the box out and assess the damage.
The clutch and hydraulic system are good, i can leave it in gear clutch in and bash limiter without the car moving.
The problem is definitely gearbox related im just wondering if anyone has knowledge of why when the car is in NEUTRAL and the clutch is ENGAGED (foot off the pedal) i get a...
Coming home a week ago my R154 started becoming hard to shift down the gears. Then it became impossible to shift into any gear once the engine is running. With the engine off i can switch into gears but its not as easy and consistent as it should be. When the can is started in neutral with the...
I am using a Proflow Efi fuel pressure regulator. It holds line pressure but slowly drains over time, not sure if its bleeding the pressure out or the pressure is flowing back through my Walbro.
Ive got a shifter from TRS in newzealand, best thing i ever did. Short throw but great feel, especially after i rebuild the box and smoothed out the edges on shift rods, alot smoother now.
This is INSANE. Excellent work and excellent finish to each and every component. Not sure if i read it but are you hand finishing the port sections your cnc cant reach?
Those cam covers are mint!
Just read your thread. Awesome you stuck with the 7m even with some of the problems you've had. Curious if you got the ARP inserts put into your head to stop the studs sinking into the head at high power?
Also im planning on making some upgraded shift collars and hubs for the R154's as i plan...
Finished the tune on E85. MAGICAL STUFF.
Took it to the drags for a shakedown. Running 4 psi less on E85 than i was running on 98 gained me 4mph!
New PB is now 11.90 at 119mph. I tried running more boost but the tires couldnt hold on the horribly prepped track. Next time out ill coat the tires...
I've heard of people shocking the transmission by dropping it to free up the reverse gear but personally its probably better to pull it apart and disengage reverse.
Did you follow the TRSM when taking off the rear housing?
I bought the cad file from V-8.com about 4 months back but recieved nothing, tried emailing but never got an answer. I ended up building my R154 instead
Just read through your build. Looks like your doing it the right way first time and not cutting corners. I plan on building my spare motor for mine in the middle of the year, so its good to see the sort of work that is required to do it right.
Yeah 18's are needed for the front. I managed to fit my JZA80 16" over the rears so i can use my Et Streets at the local drag strip.
Yeah its not as good as it could have been but its been working really well so far. Im planning to make another manifold for my built motor.
