Trying to keep the plastics as original as possible, especially in wear areas.
So I got the dash out, which uncovered the remains of at least 3 alarm system 'installs'. I'm surprised this vehicle hasn't caught fire it was that bad.
Some of what came out..
Better :)
The assembly has some flaws and smell of cigarette smoke. I bought them for the leather part which is in great shape.
I have some new toys which are helping with access, so there has been some progress on the car.
Rolling tyre jacks
And a low profile aluminium jack
Still...
No problem, I hope it works well. If you can, please post photos of the finished window trims.
In spite of a lack of posts, there has been some progress. I got a dash along with some other parts redone in red. More to follow.
Sorry, very slow reply. I will post the process as I progress with body mouldings. Last time they were filled with polyester filler.
I haven't had much time to work on the car, but have been making some progress on 'very' difficult to find items.
I lost an auction for silly money on new OEM...
Open to all options at the moment. First preference is to find a dash in the right colour. If that doesn't happen I'll price an OEM vinyl recover vs leather skin.

Had trouble getting get into my garage with low tow hook, so trying a forward facing item. Painted
Finished wipers in satin black. Not perfect but look new enough to my eyes
Thanks I liked the clean lines on the silver car. Hopefully white looks similar. Yes posted here and on sf.au a long time ago.
I've saved 100% of the original JZA70 trim pieces, including tail light centre piece. Can swap back if needs be. Thanks Hybrid for the blue trims :) I still feel bad...
Finished painting wipers, not exciting enough for a picture but they look respectable.
Picking a leather colour at the moment
I'm also shaving exterior trims
I did this on my silver MA70 and it was a horrible job I vowed never to do again. But here we go... When finished they should look...
It has been raining here. Want the paint to harden up properly, so I haven't finished the wipers yet. 37 deg C forecast tomorrow, so will take care of that.
A parcel arrived that will help with the 'reliable performance' in this car. Power FC boost control kit. Everything down to hose clamps...

This car has a lot of KM on the chassis and the door hinges had seen better days. Initially I planned to replace with new. Got a quote from Toyota Australia for $100 EACH and not all were available.
So I decided to...
Small progress updates.
Depinning JDM folding mirrors to dismantle for paint. Was lucky enough to buy some bases from Hybrid which he had re-done in fibreglass. Shouldn't have to worry about the soft plastic / peeling paint problem these all have.
Back at work so finding time is a struggle...
