I realise it is possible they will crack, but the body filler is less than 1mm thick in all areas (well under 1/8"). I don't know exactly what bondo is, but I used a combination of glue, screws, fibreglass and polyester body filler.
If it is going to crack it will likely happen during...
Thankyou :) Reading your posts about painting the car yourself was a huge motivation to give it a shot. This is obviously nowhere in the same league, and far from a restoration - but things look a damn sight better than they did.
I will hopefully put the car back togethor tomorrow weather...
Hey mate - why is your car RHD? :P
Loving the pictures and love the car.
One question I have though - Your paint looks to be in nice condition in those original pictures, why the respray? Or are the pics just really deceptive?
Thankyou :)
Another piece toward a finished puzzle today. Sprayed colour and clear, and they came out ok....ish. Actually I'm fairly relieved. The whole process was rather stressful as I had nobody to show me and have never painted before.
Some orange peel and contaminates... but...
I got some Bomex rear pod copies from Shine Auto Project and they are simply awesome. Shine was terrific to deal with (international postage etc.), and the fitment and quality is spot on. I will let the pictures do the talking :)
A DIY investment cast FFIM! Holy shit :D
Does someone you know (or yourself) work in a foundary, or is this a true solo effort?
Awesome thread and great work. Good luck with the casting process :)
What are peoples thoughts on this?
I figure it is a reasonable compromise - cleans up the car slightly but still retains those important lines.

Just so you know - it's only a matter of time until your suspension fails horribly. :nono:
Do you have any idea how springs are made?
I know my postcount is low, and I'm not trying to cause trouble - but I couldn't read this and not say something.
It has to be a joke - right? How do you 'acquire' a Corvette and not have the slightest clue.
10 points and a cookie for someone who correctly explains WHY this wouldn't work. Extra credit for valid reference to thermodynamic laws. :D
Looks as though he is in the Philippines, which is a fair distance from the USA.
That said - *sometimes* it can be cheaper to purchase items (OEM and aftermarket) from the states, and have them sent here to Australia.
Try a search of supraforums.com.au to see where people are purchasing...
Unless you have good reason, I wouldn't do it.
If you do have good reason, and some patience - it is easy enough to remove. It just uses plastic tabs which click into place. As with pulling apart anything made from old, brittle plastic - it could break in the process.
These guys have them:

Ok so I completely OD'd on caffine. It started with study, but my brain went to mush so I attacked the car :|
Tonight was a case of "I wish I hadn't noticed that, cause now I have to fix it"
It started with noticing the intercooler had only been mounted at the base. The upper attachment...
