JZA70 return to the road and onwards to reliable performance

Unpacked another box today. Some windscreen washer nozzles from a Camry / Landcruiser et. al. which I am told work well. Heater resistor block. I repaired this on my previous car, but a new one wasn't too expensive. New front grills. So damn shiny! This I didn't need, but the one on my...

JZA70 return to the road and onwards to reliable performance

Yeah pretty sure that I just lucked out on the struts. I got a quote previously and they were moving them by air using Fedex.

Bonnet fell on my head one too many times!

New engine mounts arrived as well. I assume mine have completely failed as the block is sitting at a 15 degree angle.

Updates as parts arrive. Ordered ignition and fuel at the same time, and the fuel stuff was delivered today. New regulator Fuel Pump. Wait.. is that a... yes... from a 2JZ-GTE. I wasn't sure how it would go on the hanger, but is a direct fit with part numbers for JZA70 rubber base...

78111-12100 got me all three pedals. I got them on ebay so not sure if Toyota has them locally.

And last but not least.. it is the sum of the little things that get a car to look clean - new pedals :)

Building pace on the car, so parts are starting to roll in. It is a real goal to keep the car reliable, so don't want any ignition gremlins.

JZA70 return to the road and onwards to reliable performance

So ever since I have had the car, it has had an oddly fitting RHS front quarter panel. Initially I figured it was a pre and post 89 thing, but nope.. all guards same. After a bit of head scratching, I figured out that it was s replacement guard that had come from a car with this panel...

My restoration project - Rusty 89

Great to hear that the car is running. I have your build saved as motivation and inspiration to keep me moving on my white A70.

Sorry but I don't like the 'Rodney Jane Racing' wheels currently on my car anymore than you do. You wouldn't run the AME's on the red car anyway :)

Thanks guys. I cleaned the tank inside and out, and external coated with a local system reportedly similar to POR15.

Cleaned and external painted a fuel tank. This was a horrible job I wish not to repeat.

My accelerator pedal had a lot of sideways play, so I pressed a brass bush into the bracket which made an improvement. Got a power steering pump and rack rebuilt locally.

Well.. it's an original JDM Toyota radio/tape/CD correct for the period.... I'm not certain it was originally from a Supra. But it does work, listened to a few CD's while taking the car apart :) Dan I'm pretty sure the small plug is the rear glass antenna.

Yes I have an original radio which makes things easier. I think I have seen adapters from the small to big plug.

Hey Dan - yeah that was me with silver MA70. I'll try to find some pictures and email them to you. For my JZA70, the JDM hatch glass has an antenna in it. Purportedly the antenna on the glass is enough for a radio signal on its own.. but we will see :) P.S the side pod is FRP and the area I...

JZA70 return to the road and onwards to reliable performance

Been a while since an update. I have been making slow but steady progress on the car. I spent the weekend going right over the restored dash fixing damage, re-glueing areas of the vinyl skin, and swapping over the ventilation ducts and wiring harness. Very time consuming, but trying to get...
