    Calling all Automatic Supras!

I was thinking about something other than what I was writing. I edited it.

    toms eddtion mk3

I was going to say it was from a used car dealer. A no charge advertisement they try to stick people with.

Cam journal & bearing damage... is this repairable? (pics)

And how much domestic work do they do? I am guessing a bunch. Are you guys serious you see that all the time? The only time I saw that was with upper engine knock.

    Block surface question???

The actual spec is much lower. I suspect going below it contributes to excessive BHG's. Spec is .05mm, or .002"

    Making the throttle react quicker...

Sounds like a dead spot on the potentiometer. I don't know anything about adjusting a VPC. edit: You test it with a scope. You need to depress the pedal all the way to the floor and look for a clean upward sweep, with out a low spot. Or flat spot.

    problem with rebuild

If you had the CPS out, which you did, installing incorrectly can give you grossly misadjusted timing, and your car will start but run like shit. If it is a tooth or two off. And answer his question above.

    Just Got a Supra Finally

Sweet, another automatic. The quickest production test from the masses I have seen was an automatic.

    Lean condition=higher coolant temp?

:ttiwwp: Considering most of their applications are 20:1 compression 600 CID engines, I bet it fucking hauls.

Torque converter's stall speed changes when the torque applied to it changes. Keep that in mind.

    Would you trust this wrench?

Ziiiiiiiiip. 2 seconds later and the bolt is out. Flat rate.

    Calling all Automatic Supras!

What isn't? It shifts much faster than you can. Dream on if you think otherwise. A nicely built automatic smokes a 5 speed everytime. Don't think a planetary gearset isn't any good because manuafacturers cater to the masses with things like smooth shifting. You realize this makes you sound...

    abs problem

You are looking for a sine wave and certain frequency when checking the speed sensor. A scope is needed.

Another Question about the Brake System

The proportioning valve sends brake fluid to the rear first to prevent lockup. The metering valve controls how much goes to the front. Most cars today now have a combination valve, that does both. I would have to look in the repair manual to see what we have. How much is in the front vs rear...

    Would you trust this wrench?

I have one for each application. The shock load prevents stripping. And I haven't ever heard or seen any shortblock damage from using one. IR 2112 and IR 2131 are money makers.

K&N FIPK and making the AFM dirty?

I don't know about that. The LED and phototransistor are completely different than a control wire with small amount of current in it. That electronic cleaner does work great with lean codes on a MAF. But I have never heard of Toyota saying go ahead and clean the Karman Vortex. Be careful.

    7mgte power

By about 700 lbs. The car's chasis is smaller, and it does not employ short and long arm suspension, which is heavy. It has MacPherson Struts. And the cradles are not connected as well. Less bracing for the chasis. Not as loose a 79-04 (Fox body) Mustang though...

    Do your own oil changes!

Technically, common sense is simply things you should not have to be taught. Many however are in the "slow learners group". And I don't mean the short bus either. It is a non issue because it isn't hard to undo the drain plug, remove the filter, and replace with a new unit and refil until...
