Fuel cut happens when the airflow meter hits a certain frequency under certain conditions. If you are not putting the air through the engine, which is a huge restriction, flow goes way up, and you hit fuel cut quickly. That is why it could be an intake leak. Or your set up is moving more air...

All OEM nuts and bolts are metric. Yes, an upgraded rewire is a good idea, as many have trouble with open/short trouble code. I wouldn't buy a used knock sensor. The only reason to sell it is it does not work, or the car is scrapped and being parted. It isn't like buying an intake...

No. Diagnostic mode. Limp mode was used for a short period of time, but caused pollution, the one thing it was trying to stop. Limp mode was used when a critical input was lost, so timing and injector duration were set a fixed levels.

That is to keep the gasket in place when holding a component something other than upright and flat. Not for sealing.
