No, that is speed density that is a guess. Which is why people "tune it" to get it right. Speed density is a very good guess, don't misunderstand.

The bridged resistors in the mass airflow meter can "count" the air molecules. Speed density is a calculated guess. Mass airflow is more accurate and works better for what it is trying to do.
