I'm in probably close to about... $8/9K, and still climbing since I'm getting parts necessary to get the car up and running.
My only regret is not pooling together the necessary parts beforehand and then doing the swap so I could enjoy driving the car around some more.
Ponies = Money
The more you want, the more you pay. It's not really all that expensive IMO, compared to some of the things you'll run into later on. But to answer your question in short: Yes.
There's a ton of information on downpipes on the site, so start searching and you'll be reading...
I'll say yes to that. It's no good working on a car when it's this time of year, and it's not even "winter" yet. Especially without a garage.
IMO: Spend some time pooling together the necessary parts you need over the winter. Go over the standard stage 0 of maintenance, do a ton of reading...
You'll have to pass smog, pass safety inspections, and get it passed the Department of Transportation. Here, just read this from SupraCentral.
The only "JDM"/RHD cars I've ever seen are an R32 and based on what the owner told me(and what everyone else agrees on), it's not worth the hassle...
Well ladies and gents, I definitely have to agree with keros here. When i had my 91 turbo I had a blast with it. The accelaration, torque, boost and just the raw power it gave. Of course I would have to fill up once a day, but I enjoyed it.
Now with my 91 long gone. I had to buy...
Heeeere's some Kahlua with milk in my halo halo(my roommate is Filipino), resulting in seeing the hidden message which is ghetto snuff:

On top of that plus your age group, the RHD car, and the fact that it's classified as "2 door sports + turbo" is probably going to slaughter you on insurance.
Nice car!
I'd venture a guess that Toyota putting the plastic over the engine bay keeps prying eyes out and makes them take it to the dealership instead. :icon_neut
A Honda with a turbo, nothing new.
A Honda with a sequential turbo setup, probably costs more than a running stock 7mgte.
It'll still take more torque to open a 2 liter bottle of soda than what the Honda will ever produce.
Go forged and give your motor a nice backbone to ride on. Then give it a good work over with supporting goods.
I've learned that the words "budget" and "supra mk3" don't get along well when used in the same sentence.
edit: 550cc injectors can get you there. Here's a writeup on 7mpower by...
I understand where you're coming from, before I knew anything about cars I would go around when my car needed a tune up and I'd get different responses everytime the mechanic would get back to me. At one point I was told I needed to change my oil after I only drove 1k on it, needed a new...
Back in the day I didn't have a Supra(near heard of it) and was a college student living on $100/month rent, and about another $200 a month misc. expenses+minor bills. That and, I was in the union working for Vons/Safeway so I was making about $20K a year dicking around retaking lower division...
Umm, where in California is this?
I don't know a damned thing about rebuilding an auto tranny so I'm hoping someone will chime in or throw the bs flag onto the field.
But really, if it's just the transmission pan that's the problem, you can buy a Chilton's guide for about $15(or just read it...
