Pre 89' Supra is MUCH better looking than the 89+ models

Yep, you can slam the hell out of a pre-89 and still have a huge gap up front (look at the first picture in this thread). Say what?

Repainting the Windshield Cowl and Wipers

I use engine/grill paint on the windshield wiper arms. The windshield cowl is actually a coating of some kind, not a paint. I haven't messed with mine so I can't comment on that. Remember, prep work is key when painting though. Seen a lot of people just spray bomb them and have the paint...

    Proportioning Valve

There's already a proportioning valve in the stock system, plus ABS will keep things in check regardless. Easy way to test if you're too rear heavy is to disable the ABS (pull the fuse) and lock the brakes up in a safe area. Can't do it without disabling ABS or it will just kick in and you...

    HID Bulbs & Headlight Housing

Retro take two... Definately not going to be doing glass anymore, or my prices are going to go up. The cheap housings have cheap glass (no surprise) and are sealed with caulking making them extremely difficult to take apart (broke another one :: angry :: ) Funny discovery though, they bolt...

    should i even drive it?

He's wanting to race it. Like I said, he'll be rich as hell as long as he doesn't dick with the SAFC.

Only because the people that like the 89+ are being nice :p

Keeping everything chilly mac: Is this overkill?

Stock mechanical fan works perfectly fine, no need to mess with it. Shroud is a dealer only item (if you have one that's in good shape, no reason to replace). As for the radiator, there are upgraded units that cost a bit more than an OEM units, just shop around ;)

What is the best way to clean grime off of head?

Not always true. Many machine shops use media blasting which is just as damaging as any acidic treatment (and leaves the head looking like shit).

Keeping everything chilly mac: Is this overkill?

Weird, I didn't hit post twice or get any lag... I blame IJ (it's always his fault) Even a good factory replacement radiator would be fine. You're replacing everything else in the system, might as well replace the one thing that actually does the cooling...

    should i even drive it?

Yes, it will be rich, especially with the J-tube not bypassed or hollowed out.

Keeping everything chilly mac: Is this overkill?

Vented hood isn't needed. I see no mention of a fan shroud, so I'll mention it (yes it's important). Also making sure all the plastic air guides up front are in place. When you remove the radiator and intercooler, clean the A/C condenser really well. Skip the lower temp t-stat (it's...

What is the best way to clean grime off of head?

Yet again, it EATS aluminum, don't use it. There's far better things to use that you don't have to be worried about screwing up the cam journals or any other machined surface.

Same basic trans, just different gear ratios :p

    shifter spins freely

W42 was in early 80's trucks, W52 was in the Hilux, W55 was in 2WD pickups in the late 80's, W56 was their go-to truck transmission, and the W59 is in the current Tacoma :p R series transmissions were mostly 4WD truck use though. Like I said, semantics. They're all made by Aisin and are used...
  18. Poodles

    shifter spins freely

Actually, the W58 is a close gear ratio version of the W50 series, was designed for cars, but it's base is a truck tranny. It's all semantics as the only thing that designates it for it's intended use is the gear ratios (this is the same for all transmissions for the most part) Anyway, it...
