I think staying away from the valve covers would be a good idea though. If water gets down in those galleys it can crack the plugs later.
I went through 3 sets of plugs cuz water got down there
I've used Clevites (granted i'm not at 400hp... YET!) with no problems. I've also known people to use them in 700hp applications. A coating could work well on them. I think its Power Enterprise that makes bearings that are supposed to have a "special" surface that reduces friction and wear. But...
Of course weight reduction is important. If you're moving up in the class system you will be up against lighter more powerful cars and you will get left behind.
But yes, cooling... VERY IMPORTANT!!
You know, i've pulled many motors out of many cars with a wide variety of ages amongst them with leaks. And with all the other leaks these engines have had, i've rarely seen the rear main actually be the source of the leak
Yeah i will be putting in forged pistons w/ coating. Still haven't decided on what coating yet though. Should i still put in squirters for road racing?
Yeah i will be getting forged pistons (.030) and coating then skirts and I will be road racing. I am tight w/ a machine shop. They're going to do some other sponsor work, i can ask him about that. He was actually bringing up about knocking the little balls out of the crank to do cleaning and...
So when i was looking at front clips i would see the Aristo 2JZ-GTTE (they probably inserted an extra T) listed at 280hp. So why is the same TT engine in the Aristo 280 when the Supra was 320? ECU programming? What was the difference?
Yes, i think everyone should have an extinguisher. My electric fan wiring caught fire when i was drifting once. I popped my hood, ran out and patted it out with my hand. It wasn't a big fire, but it could have been had i not caught it in time
Well if Hotscennescy (whatever!) has 500+ w/o squirters i'll take that. So Cactus, you got a 500hp 2JZ Supra and live in Santa Rosa!? Where the hell are you? Unless its stealth as f$&k i've never seen such a thing. PM me your number, i'll give you mine and we'll have to hang out!
Yeah, about that. How can i add the oil squirters? They're not simple bolt on things are they? I thought they threaded into passages in the block and since this block doesn't have that, i thought it couldn't be done
