New Oil pressure sensor location question

That'll work...if you want to measure coolant pressure. It's the block drain.

    Electrical help

It's either very quiet or you're going deaf ;). I can't hear mine with the hood closed but it's noticeable with the hood open. As I said it'll do that no matter where the throttle is. When the engine is running it's a different story. IDL going open will kill the ISC system. Can't have the...

Error code 21, then misfiring and white smoke help

Fwiw the silicates commonly found in some coolants will kill an O2 sensor if they get combusted. Same process as killing one by using non-sensor safe silicone sealent. If it's a blown BGH that may have happened. Neat trick with the torch ;)

    ODB I or ODB II

Many states now test using only the diagnostic connector. No gas analyzer or dyno is involved. California is not one of them. For those who live there go here and look at the program map: http://tinyurl.com/2alhmh Only the orange areas require enhanced (dyno) testing. Those in blue use the...

    Electrical help

No kidding. So the idle valve steps back now? That's odd because the TPS doesn't matter for the shutdown sequence. I'll have to look into that some more. Fyi, be careful testing the VTA portion of a TPS using the resistance values in the TRSM when it's not installed on the TB with the throttle...

Testing the O2 sensor off the car.

I keep getting asked about this so I'll post it up. O2 sensors are one of the most needlessly changed parts on cars. While there are several methods of testing it on the car I keep getting ask about testing it off. 1) Remove the sensor from the engine. 2) Connect a meter and set to the range...

    Torque wrench for rebuild

^ What, you don't have your own calibrator? ;) They come up on ebay fairly often. Here's one for 200 inch/pounds: http://tinyurl.com/ynq6yx I have 3. One similar to above for 1/4 drive, an electronic one for 3/8 and 1/2 drives, and a smaller one for screw driver type torque drivers that goes...

    Torque wrench for rebuild

Agreed. They are nice. Mine are Craftsman. I have a set of 6 in both 3/8 and 1/4 drive ;). The adjustable length extensions from Snap On are unique though. Handy gadgets in their own right.

    Torque wrench for rebuild

He's got you there pood. I've been in situations where nothing else would do. For example the thinner and stronger walls of Snap-On sockets come in very handy. That said they're way overkill for Joe Average. Btw, Snap On hand tools are made in their own plant. I'm guessing you don't watch...

running so rich it could be I have NFI what I'm doing

Never tried it but I'm going to say yes because it's not much different than having it unplugged. If everything else is working the engine will start and run. It won't accelerate very quickly or go above around 2500-3000 rpm though. Mines drives that way all day long with the AFM unplugged...

running so rich it could be I have NFI what I'm doing

No, I'm not saying that. But in this case that's not what's happening and in this engine it's unlikely to happen at all. Keep in mind I'm talking about a stock EFI system. Many here mistakingly think the trim sensors (coolant, TPS, O2) on this engine are required to make it run properly...

running so rich it could be I have NFI what I'm doing

Not that he shouldn't fix it but if he's getting a code for his coolant sensor it can't be responsible.

Injectors not firing. HELP!!! After BHG job

Based on your comments about the charge fuse (it can't be involved btw ) the problem is you have what appears to be a relatively simple electrical issue (although I'm doubting it) combined with no idea how to do electrical troubleshooting. My guess is unless you take it to someone who knows what...

    Electrical help

Yeah, sounds like it's not working. The valve should step full open a few seconds after the engine is stopped and the main EFI relay will de-engerize just after that. Make sure the main relay isn't going off with the key. It's ECU controlled and should wait until the ISCV is done. The only way...

    Electrical help

You can test for ground side switching by connecting one probe to battery positive or to pin 2 or 5 on the valve. Same difference as long as the Main EFI relay is closed. Test light should show something but an led would be better. I keep tellin ya, order a Power Probe ;) Be sure the IDL...

    code 52 without "limp" mode

I was referring to the excessive richness/black smoke during cruise. Lots of things could cause that including the now repaired code 52 that he mistakenly thought didn't have any effect on the engine. What won't cause it is a bad lambda sensor. Or any other trim sensor for that matter. Even a...

    code 52 without "limp" mode

As I said it couldn't possibly have been the O2 sensor so you band-aided the problem by removing fuel with the SAFC. Not sure I'd be happy with that solution even if the engine seemed to be running right.

control your power steering ?? it's riddle time

Now you want to make it automatic? Isn't that what the stock system already does? I'm confused;) Manual control of the speed input wouldn't require a processor. As I pointed out earlier I never said this couldn't be done your way but it's not the right or safe way to do it. Even the author of...
