7M-GTE Engine removal in 49 easy steps - questions

Yes, the use and sale of CFC12 is legal in the US. I think it's outright banned in Canada though so that's where the confusion maybe originates. Anyway, it's not all that hard to get here but it's spendy.

how do you hook up a air/fuel ratio guage

It's OK Brady. You were trying to help. Can't fault you for that. Next time you might want to skip the "polly want a cracker?" routine though. Dunkel: Frustrated? No! ;)

Is there an ACC wire that doesn't shut off during start?

Yeah, IG2 feeds the injectors and coil packs. IG1 feeds the ECU. If they were killed during cranking you'd have hard starts for sure ;)

What in the heck is this?

No, a paper clip there would be the burnt fingers mod ;)

how do you hook up a air/fuel ratio guage

Why does he need a WB to hook up a NB A/F gage? As for tuning WBs have only become affordable to the masses in the last 15 years or so. What do you think was used to tune before that? Or do you think we all drove Flintstone cars? 7M: You can tap the OX line anywhere between the sensor and the...

Is there an ACC wire that doesn't shut off during start?

Offhand I can't see how you'd do that with stock wiring Grim. Why do you need it to be ACC? Why not IG1 or 2? Do you still have your clutch safety switch? I ask because I use mine to do a bit of similar electrical shenanigans ie; seat belt interlocks and some stuff that deals with my...

    Confusion about a vacuum source

The GTE CC system has a vacuum pump and a switch to control it. You may want to obtain them. I believe the CC box and harness is the same on both cars but don't hold me to it.

I think so. Regardless, it'll be the only one with two wires. And take cuels' excellent advice about the book...

    Lumpy Idle?

Well, there ya go. The coolant temp sensor is also used to determine cold idle. Check for codes. If none measure the sensor's resistance or voltage when cold. He could also have an ISC problem but I'm betting on the coolant sensor.

    Oil guage and temp switch

Hey, how bout that. Another thread that proves the internet is more than a global pornography network. Why many don't seem to understand that is beyond me. I'd much rather do the leg work myself than ask a bunch of yahoos on some forum, which tend to be the worst places to go for for accurate...

It's the remote. Didn't know the later cars had a fob for the factory alarm although I somehow recall keyless entry was an option.

    Oil guage and temp switch

The Spal is programmable and permits dual set points. It also PWMs the first fan depending on temp. The oil sender pulses on and off by heating a bi-metal strip that is mechanically biased by oil pressure through a diaphragm. The strip has a contact point that gets pushed up by the diaphragm...

    Lumpy Idle?

No. Does the idle start off high and come down as the engine warms up?

    Lumpy Idle?

I mean a shifted coolant sensor. You know, someone shifted it to another engine. What do you think I mean? Can't be the CSI because it's impossible for it to operate unless the engine is cranking and if it was mechanically leaking the problem wouldn't go away.

    91 headlights staying on...

Auto light off is handled by Integration Relay #2 otherwise it's a simple circuit. Start with the driver's door switch although if the interior lights are behaving the door switch is OK. Maybe a problem in junction block #1 which is in the center block in the driver's foot well. Make sure the...

Buy a Spal or Derale controller on ebay for around $60 and be done with it. Or this gadget: http://tinyurl.com/22wfjn I prefer the Spal though. Not that I'd ever put electric fans on this car but I've used lots of Spals on others where the car came stock with electric fans as it's only means of...
