    Coolant filter pics

No pics but simple enough. Removed line from outlet of ISCV and ran new hose to filter on fender where igniter used to be (igniter was relocated to bolt on brake proportioning valve). Hose exits filter and runs back to original hose from ISCV using a 5/16" brass barbed coupler. 5/16" heater...

    Hi-Flow Cat

Couple of comments: 1) All USDM Supras came from the factory with three way converters. 2) A Lex/500 mod will have no effect on an emissions test. If it did something wasn't working or adjusted right.

Thanks Geezer. The 4069 is the smaller version of the 4070. I was trying to remember that number earlier in the thread but couldn't. It's good for tight fits and has more than enough capacity.

External coolant leak!!! Wheres does it come from? Help!

Iirc some of the studs holding the water housing on come seal coated and if removed must be recoated prior to installation, something not mentioned in the TSRM and something many people don't do. Mind you, I'm not 100% positive about this but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. If...

    It still wont start!!! HELP!

Did you try searching for code 14? It's been explained many times. It's in the manual too. Means there is no spark or there is spark but the ECU isn't receiving confirmation of it on signal wire IGf. As long as that happens the fuel injectors will not operate. Trouble areas are usually the...

Acceleration problems: this thread is only for the gifted

As torque increases throttle line pressure must modulated to prevent slippage. Many cars of this vintage did that with a vacuum modulator but on this car it's cam operated by the throttle cable. I'm not going to write it all out because it's too long and a bit complicated but maybe this will...

Miss off idle and under hard accel.

    1) Check codes. 2) Temporarily jumper B+ to FP in the diag block and see if the problem goes away. You could also do a snap throttle test while watching fuel pressure or pump current but if not just do the B+ to FP thing. It'll be OK to drive it like that for a day or two. Let us know what...

Miss off idle and under hard accel.

Does the accel miss start to happen around 3 psi of boost or it is really at WOT? No codes? 14 for example?

    Heater Core Bypass

That's an impressive post there Sparky. I'd offer a technical rebuttal but I know it'd fall on deaf ears. See, I can smell your type a mile away. All I can say (said in fact) is my owners manual doesn't say that (nor does my TSRM) but then again I have an early model year. And fwiw in 21 years...

    Heater Core Bypass

I always get a headache from looking at that ;) I meant the valve itself. There is a stamped protrusion on it's mounting bracket that spaces the actuator away from the bracket such that when the actuator is off it's stroke is limited to where the valve is not fully closed, thereby letting a...

    Coolant filter pics

I rarely throw broken things in the trash without tearing into them. I've always felt by doing that I'm throwing away something valuable. It's a curse ;) Oxalic can be had in Prestone Heavy Duty Cooling System Cleaner. Two part powered stuff in the yellow can. It can be tough to find at times...

    Heater Core Bypass

Well, it only closes when the CC is set to 65. You'd think a CC color change specialist would know that ;) And as I said, it never totally blocks flow, even when it's closed.

    Heater Core Bypass

Not to rain on your parade but.... 1) The heater hose is far from the hottest coolant coming out of the engine. 2) There is flow even with the valve closed. It's designed not to present a total obstruction to flow when closed. 3) It says in the owners manual to fill on a hill? Not in my...

Citric is pretty mild stuff. It's fine as long as you start out with a clean system and stay on top of it. Oxalic acid is at the other end of the spectrum. Powerful enough that it requires neutralization after use. You can always cut down the amount used though and that's what I do. Even it...

To lambo doors or Not to lambo doors?

It's "DeLorean" hommer, and as a long time owner of a near pristine one they aren't so bad. You just need to understand how they work. Mine is as reliable as the Supra and, although not quite as fast, more fun to drive. After all underneath that stainless is a Lotus.
