I don't know how true this holds up but someone once told me smoke on acceleration = worn out piston rings. Smoke deceleration = valve seals. I don't think the smoke would be white though.
Yeah, avoid running your engine unless you want some of this.

Those are my main bearings, and head.
The oil clearances should still be in spec cause they're going to align hone no bore it. Here's some more carnage. These are my main bearings. I haven't taken any pics of my rod bearings, but they're about the same.
UPDATE: I went to two different machine shops here in town. One has a pretty good reputation, and I haven't heard of any bad things about them. As a matter of fact that's the shop that did my port work on the head. They told me that they can line hone the head, and install a new set of cams...
I have a spare head in the trunk. I guess I'll look around to have the spare machined and put back together if I can't get someone to fix it at a reasonable cost. Only I won't spend the money on porting again. Let me take a drive and see what one machine shop says about the head damage. I'll...
Yeah, I didn't know what to call that surface. This is a bummer. I'll just have to take this head in and see what some machine shops will say. I don't want to pay for another port job. There's gotta be some way to fix this. JB weld the surface and smooth it out with a butter knife maybe? j/k
While tearing down my motor due to low compression in #1 cylinder I found what I suspected.
So fragments of metal were floating around in my oil. Cylinder bore looked ok with very light surface scratch marks down the bore. Minimal overboring would probably clean it up. Time for some...
Any other site out there that I can host my pics? I have some questions to ask the technical section some questions, but it always helps to post pics too.
I really don't want to beat this dead horse, but i'm looking into buying a head gasket soon. I'll be running a 60-1 .60 a/r cold side, .69 on center hotside at around 25psi. I just might get guttsy and push it up to 30psi. I'll hopefully tune my car to around 500rwhp. Now i've heard about...
ok. i didn't think about this but what were the causes of his engine failures? if the first five were due to running lean and burning holes throught the pistons then i can see how it was EMS related. but rod knocks and main bearing failures cannot be caused by piggybacks? just burning rings &...
does our MKIII's have a pressure switch? when the system gets low on freon it won't kick on the compressor clutch? it might be as easy as filling up the system with more freon. but them you have to ask... where did it leak from. good. luck.
excuse me, three out of top five rwhp 7m's on that site running piggybacks. top two running piggybacks. here again, is it really necessary to run a stand alone? my thoughts... no. it's been proven that piggybacks can get the job done.
