So, by running a 4" intake pipe and 2.5" plumbing with it that would increase peak HP. But would that contribute a little bit to lag? The turbo would have to pressurize more area with the bigger diameter plumbing. Or is that not a factor? When you say ENTIRE system that would include the...
Somtimes I see the same size compressor housing, .60a/r for example, but one has a 3" inlet and the other has a 4" inlet. I've wondered on that same housing would the 4" inlet make more horsepower than the smaller one. I'm sure a .70a/r housing would flow more.
I was plugging in some number in some compressor maps. When you start pushing off the map (to the right hand side) does that mean that turbo will only be blowing nothing but hot air? It's no longer efficient, but does that mean your power will drop like a rock? Would I need move to the next...
congrats on the swap. I would have done the TH350 swap for that kinda coin. Then again I'm getting older, and tired of rowing gears. I do it everyday in my daily driver.
I think I'm going to go with a Cometic gasket. ARP head and rod bolts will be used too.
gixxer: You're kidding about only making 251rwhp with your mods right?
BTW, I gotta hand it to ya. At least you have the balls to run against supercharged Z06's and T/A's on spray. Not like other guys in here running against weak 4 banger cars, and other non-competition cars I've heard of. Yeah, just get 'er tuned and I'm sure you'll shock those guys next time.
I was running 15-16psi on my stock ct. After a couple of months of that it broke. Upgraded it with a 50trim wheel, and started running 18psi. That lasted 2 days. Sent it back for a warranty rebuild. I was running 18psi on it, and it lasted for a while. That's unitl I cranked it up to...
Here are some pics of my head. I've had three very reputable machine shops tell me this isn't that big of a deal. All three of them said they would just align hone them and make sure their isn't any high spots that would scratch the cams up. You would still see the pits and scratchs cause all...
Ok, I took off the housing and measured both inducer and exducer. I used a the sophistacted method of using a measuring tape and the eyeball. I saw a 2.250 inducer and 3.00 exducer. I looked at this http://64.225.76.178/catalog/comp_wheels.html to compare and see what I have. From what I can...
Could I mess something up doing that? I'm trying to identify my turbo and was asked to measure both inducer and exducer to get a definate answer. By removing the compressor housing could I ruin the turbo? Do I need any special tools, or will the common wrenches do?
Well, being that I need to buy a stock balancer I'm sure I'll be down for the group buy too. I was going to buy a brand new stocker... any idea of what those go for. I remember a couple of years ago I was going to buy one, but the stealership quoted me around $360. That's why I bought an...
I bought the head already ported and polished. I haven't been able to actually see any results since I had low compression in #1 cylinders due to broken ringlands.
Here is the stock port on my spare head.
This is the new (rebuilt) head I bought.
I bought this port and polished head...
All of the marks on the pulley is from the dumb ass mechanic beating on it to make it fit.
The beating continued...
Cause some lip bending.
More lip bending. But this was the worse one.
After time the pulley started to wobble on the crank snout and damage the woodruf key and keyway on...
So this damper does have an a/c pulley on it as well? Or did you custom fab one on your damper?
Edit: Do you happen to know the cost of one off hand? I had an unorthodox crank pulley that I'm not going to use on my new rebuild. I was going to get a stock damper, but rather have an...
