Raised Cowl Hood Feeler Thread (DO U WANT ONE)

You know, if it's a cf hood, I'm sure even blown hood struts would hold it up... Good thing I have two of them haha! But seriously, for those of you considering the hood prop idea, BE CAREFUL OF WIND. Here in Wyoming, there's a law that states that the wind shall not blow at a speed less than...

My Car vs 2009 Porsche 997

Double clutching a 997? Does the car even HAVE a left foot pedal?

Snow plus Supra equals a very slow drive home

JJ, I'd be surprised if there's anyone on this forum who's older than the first production FWD... Genuinely surprised. For what it's worth, FWD sucks in the snow, I prefer to be able to do things with my rear tires rather than just drag them along.

    Gran Turismo 5, anyone?

My G27 is still sitting in a box on the floor of my room. Was gonna let the parents or GF buy it, since I knew they'd be bugging me for Christmas gifts, but then noticed it was selling out and jumped on it. Amazon sells them for ~$260 shipped if you catch them when they have a few. ;) Now I'm...

5 years of Supra ownership... How long have you been in the game?

Well, today, December 7th, 194..er, scratch that, 2010, I have been a Supra owner for 5 years. Crazy to think, of all the stories I could tell... 5 years ago, I didn't know my head from my ass when it came to working on cars (some of my old threads would attest to this), but thanks to my always...

Raised Cowl Hood Feeler Thread (DO U WANT ONE)

No problem Kenny, I figured they'd come in handy someday. I'd prefer full CF myself, don't know much about this kevlar you speak of (other than in clothing/armor applications), and not the biggest fan of fiberglass. I'm liking Matt's idea... the above hood, with JUST the radiator vent. Cowl...

    Crambo's V12

1GZ-FE, right? Or am I mixing my letters and numbers up incorrectly? Either way, subscribed, I like how this is looking already...

Raised Cowl Hood Feeler Thread (DO U WANT ONE)

As promised (I believe I'm borrowing Nick's pictures here), here's pics of the Stout hood, for radiator vent reference. Hopefully someone can chime in on where the water would drop down if it were to rain... Personally, I'd rather not have water dumping down my cam gears and into the timing belt...

will a MBC help keep boost down in cold weather?

Forgive me if I'm thinking along the wrong lines, but being that the 1j's are MAP based, boost leaks don't affect things like a MAF setup (i.e. 7m) setup does?

question about value of a original supra bra.

Bra's are for women, not cars. The few I've seen over the years ranged from $50-100 depending on condition and how quickly the owner wanted to sell it...

Raised Cowl Hood Feeler Thread (DO U WANT ONE)

Put me on the list Kenny. Only two requirements would be a radiator vent and wiper fluid nozzle fitment (like stock), and I'm good. I have plenty of pictures (high res too) of the Stout hood, for radiator vent reference, but they're on my computer at home. I'll get on here and post them up from...

Snow plus Supra equals a very slow drive home

I've been through at least 4 Wyoming winters with Supras. One n/a auto Mk3, one 5sp Mk2, and one 1j/5sp Mk3. All ran Goodyear Assurance Tripletread 225/50/16. Never had any real problem, never got stuck, even when the snow was up to the nose panel (where the badge is on the front), I made it...

Am I the only one who thinks that electric fans are a downgrade?

Dunno if you're just venting or looking for business here Aaron, but I have the same problem GrimJack mentioned. Got a solution for us JZ/PWR guys? I'm contemplating picking up a Koyo so I can go back to a clutch fan, but I'd hate for this ~$450 radiator to go to waste...

    87/88 trim with 89+ bumper?

Not sure why I didn't think of that... Other way around. Currently have an 89, all my fun parts are going into an 87 with a really nice body. Will be transporting an 89 front bumper to the 87, as well as the tail lights. Probably gonna have to re-use the turn signals too, huh? Oh well, I like...

    Integration Relay #2 pic?

Dunno what size man you are Grim, but it's really not all that hard to get to. As bioskyline pointed out, take out the driver seat and it's MUCH easier to gain access to under-dash wiring and electronics. Granted, when you're ~5'-8" and ~120lbs, not too many things are hard to get to haha...

will a MBC help keep boost down in cold weather?

Negative sir. As Grim pointed out, you can only increase boost that way. Take it off and you're running on your waste gate's actuator. Only way I can see lowering your boost pressure is to either keep your foot out of it so much, or replace your actuators with lower pressure units. Have fun...

Raised Cowl Hood Feeler Thread (DO U WANT ONE)

Here's my take on the idea: -I don't want it looking like an 80's Camaro -I do want a radiator vent, much like the Stout or Onthebeat hood, side/secondary vents aren't really all that important to me. As long as it's positioned so that it doesn't dump water all over the motor when it rains, so...

    ***SM Member Horsepower List***

With the n/a cams I believe you sacrifice top end (which 7m's really aren't built for, at least in stock form) for some pretty awesome low end torque. As for a record, I couldn't tell ya. Have you pressure tested your system, checked for leaks? What down pipe are you running? Stock elbow?
