A/C Compressor clutch not engaging, possible A/C Amplifier malfunction

Always happy to help someone who appears to know what they're doing even if they do turn out to be a bit sloppy. The clueless, not so much...

A/C Compressor clutch not engaging, possible A/C Amplifier malfunction

Hmmm. I'm looking at an 87 EWD as I write this and the only thing the CIG fuse does is power the coil on the clutch relay. The 10 amp AC fuse powers the amp and feeds the dual pressure switch. Regardless, if the switch is passing voltage to the amp as you claim whatever fuse is involved must be...

Sorry, no. If I still lived up on Timberhill I'd look at it for you though. Alas, I do not...

Lots of heat inside of car

This is true. Designed to do it in fact. Iirc it's not built into the valve itself. It's a function of the bracket.

A/C Compressor clutch not engaging, possible A/C Amplifier malfunction

It's in Relay Block 4. Right kick panel. Same block as the AC fuse which supplies its power. If you mean the 10 amp AC fuse that can't be the problem...

Yep, tighten them too much and they'll be problems. They can be tested on the car (engine running or stopped) or on the bench. Best to do it on the car right at the ECU terminal. That way you check everything at once. The stock ground isn't at the ECU btw but it's not a problem if you ground...

A/C Compressor clutch not engaging, possible A/C Amplifier malfunction

Pin 5 is the power supply to the amp. You need to find out why it's not getting 12 volts. Since it's powered from the same place as the dual pressure switch, and you claim it's passing power to the amp, the problem should be simple to resolve. Pin 11 is not the input used to activate the...

    Reving

Can't be rpm fuel cut because 51 shows up and the cutoff fev is too high. Therefore it's likely the AFM itself or an open in the AFM wiring. Since the typical symptom for that is it'll fev to about 3K before cutting off I'd start there...

It's highly unlikely to be the ECU. Is there spark at any cylinder?

What would cause the fuel pump relay to buzz, even when the key isn't in the ignition

By connecting +B to FP one is connecting FP to battery positive after it goes through the ignition switch, EFI relay, etc. There is normally no buzzing when that's done. Yet when connecting FP directly to the positive battery post (the same point electrically as in the first case) with the key...

    Code 14

Yes. Read post # 2 again. And although by now you know it isn't the EFI fuse it was never possible for it to be the cause because if the fuse was bad you wouldn't be able to read codes...

Radiator anode to prevent rust. Any good?

Those things have been around since before I was born. So has Whitney for that matter and they're still selling mostly junk. These things come from the marine industry where the cooling system is open loop. The science is sound but they don't do a whole lot in a closed system that employs...
