    30 mpg

When I hear that similarly equipped VW Rabbits, Polos, and the like (as far as small commuter cars go) in England are getting over 60mpg easily because of a small turbo diesel engine, it makes me a little sad that we don't get them over here. Not that I'd really want to drive one, and would be...

    May be a dumb question

The gearing is part of it, the other part being that a GE just doesn't really have much motivation for such a heavy car...

Uh oh, Read if you enjoy spring time start up horror stories.

Well I let my Mk2 sit for a while when it was in storage, and wasn't starting it frequently enough... now it knocks a bit upon startup. :(

What do you think of this "Street Series" clutch from South Bend? Rated at 520lb/ft.

Try revving your engine up ~1000-1200 rpms as you downshift from 3rd. When you let out the clutch it should be a bit smoother...

Driftmotion full 3" Piping from Turbo to Tip. $559!

I'll second this, bought plenty from Aaron in the past, and have always had good experiences.

Picked up new DD..... Couldnt resist it

It'll definitely be different, not too many of those on the roads in the US anymore that I see. Too bad too, they were good cars. I had a 3tc powered e72 for a while, was a fun car. Still have a spare set of taillights for some old Corolla, they didn't quite fit mine, so...

    180sx sr20det vs MK3 7mgte

Indeed. 10:1 seems to be that point where a car becomes interesting enough to keep a smile on the face. :) Part of the reason I'm looking into building a 7 replica in a few years. 1300lbs doesn't need much motivation... Just gotta take each car for what it was designed to be. The Supra wasn't...

    Precision 62mm Billet Turbo 6262

I can't see that being a problem, you just won't get the benefits of having a twin scroll manifold with an undivided turbo housing. If it were the other way around (divided turbo, undivided manifold), I could see it causing a bit of unwanted turbulence, but in this case, I don't see it causing...

Anyone ever run a 3.4L bottom end on a 1j head?

Not a bad option either, but for what it costs to build a 1j bottom end, you could pretty much do the same to a 3.0 bottom end. Not like those blocks are hard to come by or expensive to buy, you know? That said, I certainly wouldn't mind a 1j revving upwards or beyond the 10k point.

    30 mpg

Good point on both accounts, I've just never been a fan of someone trying to force their eco-agenda on anybody. Give Obama the power, and I'm sure you'd see truck production banned before too long. The guy is so ridiculously out of touch with the automotive world it isn't even funny some days. I...

What do you think of this "Street Series" clutch from South Bend? Rated at 520lb/ft.

Funny how the internet has changed everything in the last 15 years, isn't it? I know I wouldn't be able to keep my car in the shape it's in, and would probably have made a lot more 'oops' over the years without this forum. :)

    180sx sr20det vs MK3 7mgte

Nothing wrong with the S-chassis cars, I just find it funny how much people tend to have to 'upgrade' on them to handle moderate power levels. Most of these 'upgrades' are more or less stock on our cars, which certainly contributes to the weight... I had an 89 XE 240sx for a while, loved the...

    "Exhibition of *excel*eration" ticket question...

Yeah, sometimes my right foot feels a bit too inspired for my own good. Looking back, this happened in probably the most crowded intersection of town, so I probably deserve whatever comes out of this, but I'm still exploring options. Have the evening to myself again to look up lawyers to speak...

I approve. Old Corolla wagon, correct? Does it have vertical taillights, or is that my imagination?

Anyone ever run a 3.4L bottom end on a 1j head?

This. I almost bought an FSE for the guy that did all the harder work on my car, just so we could play with and tinker, see what would come of it. Then I decided I could use the $800 elsewhere. That said, this is all merely hypothetical. I for one, could think of better things to do with the...

Bullitt Rims on a MKIII Supra

Doesn't look too shabby. Not the torq-thrust's biggest fan myself, but it fits the car. :)
