Heater core shouldn't cause the engine to run rough. Blown head gasket wouldn't give u a sweet smell through the vents (UNLESS its entering in somehow from the exhaust, or from a leak in the exhaust) Check for leaks everywhere, check the passenger side floor for leaks, check your engine...

A conversion is quite a bit of money, especially if ur comparing prices on buying a supra. Tails, trim, and wing are all ~$150 each, and a front bumper could probably be had for ~$100. That's already $550, the money adds up quick, and those prices are quite low.
