I used 3m tape and cut it to fit around the holes where the wing mounted and it worked for me. I agree not to use silicone, I used it once and don't plan on ever using it again.

Anybody have any tips for getting a tough allen wrench bolt to budge? I just got a new mirror for my car and it looks great but I need to adjust it and the damn bolt won't budge worth shit, it's new so it's not like it's rusted in or anything, but my allen wrench is damn near stripped to shit...
