Having your head gasflowed is always a good idea though - no point in cranking up the boost if the gas flow is reduced at the head. It's not expensive to do. I'd think that torque lower down the rev range would be preferable, and HP might just flatten out - but realistically, are people really...

I think the easiest way to get more power in the turbo's in terms of camshafts - is to drop in the Cams off an N/A. They're actually quite aggressive out of the factory. If you think about it, they're easy enough to get hold of, and reasonably inexpensive. Especially if you get them off a BHG'ed...

Still getting a rattle on the top end under 2000rpm when cold. When warm its still there, just not so noticeable....It's NOT rod-knock as i said before. It's top end - coming from Cyl #2 area, just under the coil pack.

Just been out in it - does 30psi at 1750rpm sound about right, when warm?

Just checked - no pennzoil or amsoil in the UK. It's either Castrol, or cheap crap - cant even get duckhams hypergrade anymore :(

Yah - there isnt much need for me to drive more than the local area. One or two times i've gone about 30 miles out, but thats rare. As for pennzoil - i honestly don't know. I'll have a look, but i think Castrol GTX is the best we can get.

I wont ignore everything they say, i think they were wrong on this issue. Then again, since putting 15w40 in, it sounds a lot better and pressure hasnt really changed much. Like i said though - in 500 miles or so, i'll do a filter and oil change or 5w30, expensive though that'll be :(

Aaah. Well, i bought it on the recommendation of other Mk3 owners in the UK and they said that 10w40 is too thin, and recommended 15w40. I bought the oil, but wanted to double check all the same. I'll change it in 500 miles or so and go for a 5w30 magnatec with a new filter. Not really much...

Previous owner did the mixing, not me! :D Just checking at halfords.com, the only parts store around, and they list Castrol Edge Sport 0w40 in a 4 litre can for £36.99 ($70.65). The only 5w40 is one for turbo diesel engines, but is the same price. The cheaper one is a 5w30 Castrol GTX Magnatec...
