So is this scoring thing an inherent flaw in the design of the head (it not being of Yamaha design that is), or is it caused by particulate matter/inadequate filtration? I'm almost worried to go look at my head now! Cams are on the kitchen floor - i'll give them a clean later and see how bad...

I thought the aftermarket cams were really pricey though, at least they are here (one you factor in customs fee's and shipping that is)....

IJ - if you have scoring that bad - can you weld the cams up and grind them down to spec again so as to save them? Same goes for the heads - as in, weld them, then line bore?
