Ive been through the exact same thing bro. glad you caught her. word to the wise, you can sue an individual, but making them pay up is an entirely different issue. You will win, no doubt about it, however you likely wont ever see a dime, or it will take forever to collect as was my case. Go...
Ive used Je in the past, mainly because Ive found they tend to melt instead of implode when I got too greedy with the boost knob; which means less work on the rebuild of the rebuild. granted, this was on an entirely different engine, so ymmv. I like to blow em up.
Yeah I had already cut the back of the cluster when it came time to refit it into the dash, so at that point I had no real option but to go ahead and finish the job or find another gauge cluster. There was definitely a couple of "oh shit moments" where I realized Id just cut something and wasnt...
Ill be there.
hopefully with the new exhaust and the new turbo installed. also hopefully with that tasty titanium 3000 pipe Carl is making for me :)
yummy, titanium.
I think Im actually going to go ahead and get the other gauges and finish the install like you did. I only cut the vent that is behind the cluster, not the one that is actually int he cluster like you did and I thikn I can get it to sit a little farther abck int he cluster if I do it like you...
I hit fuel cut at 10psi on cool days. so hitting it at 9 doesnt seem uncommon to me. What to do? turn the boost controller back down a little bit or get an FCD and hope youre ok, or get to putting 550s and a lex afm on there.
It was a pain to reinstall it, Ihad to cut part of the A/C vent behind the cluster. I didnt have the foresight to take any pics before reinstalling it so Weezl will hopefully provide them. Id love to see what the back of his cluster looks like as I did have to chop the hell out of mine in order...
Ill probably do the oil pressure and temp gauges the same way. Got a pic of that dual pod?
Main reason that I dont like tham is that they tend to attract the cherries and blueberries. I get enough attention with the BIC DDP and the upcoming 4 inch exhaust is surely not going to help.
no big deal, but I wanted to show it off and get some feedback.
I took the dash apart and mounted an autometer ultralight 30psi gauge in the stock gauge location. wired it in to the stock dimmer on the dash too. Much better than the "floppy the boost gauge install I had going on before with...
