    Well, here I go again...............

O.K. so here goes. I took out my instrument panel and then took out the donor instrument panel from the 88. The one the transmission came out of. I then took the speedometer gauge, the hole unit, not just the numbers. I hooked everything back up and went for a test drive. At 4000 rpm I'm running...

    Well, here I go again...............

Yeah, I know that it should be, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's the tranny off of a four cylinder corrolla. I'll let my wife get in my truck and drive beside me and see how the speedometer is different. I know my '05 trucks speedo is correct, cause everything is stock. I will post back...

    Well, here I go again...............

I'm not that fast IJ, I posted my thread right below yours before I read yours. It just happened to be about the speedo cable. Also, no apology needed. You've been a great help, I just want to get everything right.

    Well, here I go again...............

I tried to change the speedometer gear, but their totally different. If my transmission was a W58, could that be a problem. I don't know, I'm just throwing that out there. My donor is an 88 turbo, so hopefully it's got the 154, but I'm grasping at straws right now....................:dunno:

    Well, here I go again...............

I think you meant, Just in case I don't know. Unfortunately I've been putting it in the right gear. I wish I had been in third, but I'm not that lucky...........lol

    Well, here I go again...............

Well I just opened up the differential and counted the teeth. I have 43 on the big gear and 11 on the smaller gear. According to the carpenter's manual, that is 3.90909090. My problem must be somewhere else. Either my speedo is way off or the transmission has something to do with it. Since I...

    Well, here I go again...............

Stop the clock. I've changed them out and took it for a test drive. Same freaking problem. 3900 rpm at 80 mph. I give up! I've put three differentials in and all three of them are the same. One was already in my 1991 TTT, one out of a 1988 TTT, and this last one out of an automatic 1988 turbo...

    Well, here I go again...............

I just bought ANOTHER rearend to put in my 91 turbo. This one came out from under a 1988 toyota supra turbo. I know cause I seen him pull it out. I hope this thing has the 3.91 gears that it is suppose to have. If it doesn't, I may go on a killing spree. I've already replaced my rear end once...

    1987-1988 turbo question

Apparently I have given you all rep recently, cause it won't let me do it again. I did however give rep to Micky. I really do appreciate the help and 3100 is awesome. I will go buy the rearend tomorrow. I think 140 kilo. is around 80mph. My dash has kilometers on it where I ordered my gauges...

    creepy

When you said pink, I had no idea you meant PINK!!!!!! That is the gayest color for a car I have ever seen. I would love to have it, but the paint would be spray painted over with walmart primer before I would drive it like that...........lol

    i need a dyno

Of the two choices, I'd go to Walker Dyno in trussville. AutoLabz has lost their mechanic and aren't doing that much right now. I called them to see if they wanted to tune my car and they said they couldn't. Blake at Walker knows what he's doing and charges half of what AutoLabz does. $85.00 for...

Make sure you lock your doors at night, and sleep with one eye open...............;) And if that doesn't work, try one of these.....................:bigun2:

    What's wrong with my drivetrain?

Have you checked the universal joints? Should be three of them. I bought three new ones from Advance Auto Parts for 15.00 total. They had two kinds and I bought the upgraded ones. I guess there a little stronger. It also might be your exhaust maybe hitting underneath your car if one of your...

    1987-1988 turbo question

Thanks sleepersupra. I was hoping for a little less than 3500, but I guess that's what I'll get if I buy this one from the junkyard. Hopefully someone else will chime in and lie to me and tell me it'll be right around 3000..............lol rep sent. thanks

    1987-1988 turbo question

I have did numerous searches on here in the last thirty minutes and it seems like the 3.91 would be a better gear ratio for me. I love to go to Bama dragway and race through an 1/8 mile and spank Mustang GT's. It looks like the only real benefit of the 3.73 is twenty miles an hour faster on top...

    1987-1988 turbo question

How many rpm's are you turning at 80 mph? There is a guy here locally(junk yard) that has a 1987 supra turbo. He swears the differential is a 3.73. I don't know how he knows this, but he saids he does. I know the 87 and 88s had a 3.90 gear ratio. I have a 91 turbo five speed with a NA...
