I'd check the cam tunnels to make 100% sure it's straight, measured a bud's 7M with the IR gun yesterday and there's a HUGE variation Front to Rear on these heads temp wise :(
Also check the Exhaust side for hardness.
Normal HG is 1.37mm compressed yours was 1.27mm so being that tight would explain the extra crush.
I'd be checking that the head is still straight after checking it for hardness.
If you get a chance measure the Deck to Valve cover seal surface
HG
and the block from the Main bearing saddle to the Deck surface, as I said I wasn't aware of different pistons in the Japanese/USDM engines as we got the Jap spec engines here.
But having said that the change in dish...
Never heard of an alternate compression ratio for NA's, from memory they have a 14cc dish piston (19cc for GTE's) and use the same 40cc combustion chamber volume.
This is not to say your engine may have had after market pistons fitted and this is the reason the comp test is so high.
Might be an idea if you went and washed the sand out....
I never for a second said 230 psi was in anyway normal.
What I said was comparing a 6M to a 7M is Apples to Oranges for the reasons I listed above, if you knew how to calculate Compression ratio's you'd understand this and NOT take...
