Start with a fresh cover from Toyota or you'll end up making faithful reproductions of any flaws in someone else's old warped one. ie: Garbage in Garbage out.
I think you might have missed that there's NO PRESSURE feed to the engine ;)
Oil comes out of the pump through the radiator and into the pan bypassing the Crank, Bearings and Top end of the engine totally!! :aigo:
JetJock educated me on the advantages of CT clamps way back, until then I hadn't given them any thought and just replaced them with worm clamps routinely.
Never seen these before but agreed if they can't be reused it's going to get expensive on a 7M :aigo:
Factory CT clamps if you can get the sizes needed rule!
Worm drive even on silicone is fine as long as the rack isn't cut through the clamp but worm clamps can't self adjust for different...

I usually close them down to 2 if the CPS is tight, I bought a brand new one that wouldn't run using the factory adjustment as received, the MoTeC has a test feature you can run on cranking, spoke with my MoTeC guy and he suggested the 2 thou setting, bingo big fat...
Back when JDM engines first appeared here while they were honestly low mile units they more times than not were in horrific condition, most had only 40,000 Km's or so but had NEVER been serviced in that time so were almost solid with sludge.

IF on inspection the block and head met ALL the criteria I listed then Totan were correct in their statement, personally I have NEVER seen a 7M I'd be confident in doing this with ;)
