If it was correctly torqued to 195 ft/lbs this would probably never happen.
The problem is that it is pretty tough to get 195ft/lbs on it unless you know what you are doing.
You know the good news? We are going to be getting a brand spanking new 7m-gte shortblock and fully balancing it with the flywheel and resizing the rods with new ARP rod bolts! We are going to carefully measure all the tolerances too so we can see just how good Toyota really makes these shortblocks.
Or you could end up with this
This engine ran for a while with a loose crank pulley bolt. The crank pulley, timing belt drive pulley, and the crank are all junk now. This is a new 7m build we just started on for a customer.
The timing belt drive pulley was loose enough to...
Some early 89 cars had the 87-88 body connectors with the 89-92 ecu. There is also a few different variations on the body connectors depending where your car was meant to be sold. There was a "federal and canada" version and a US version if I remember right, at least that is what I came across...
I was messing around on the freeway a while back and a Vette was pulling on me like crazy. When I was at full boost he was not pulling away, but the na powered Vette was pulling -several- car lengths on me before I hit full boost. I don't know what it had under the hood though.
It's nice to hear when someone else has similar goals and ideas because kinda validates your reasoning and your decision making process.
So it seems like I am on the right track.
My manifold has the rectangular flange, and my wastegate (which is supposed to be an exact copy of a HKS racing...
I want my dump pipe to be open but not super loud. Couldn't I just run a motorcycle type muffler on it? With the right muffler I think it would sound pretty cool. But maybe I am just reeetarded. What do you think? It's a 50mm wg so I bet it is going to be rediculously loud otherwise.
It's a black orange wire (ig2) for switched power to it through the engine harness. The same wire powers the 12v input of the fuel injectors and ignition coils. The signals from the ecu to the ignitor are separate from the power source. Could be a bad key switch if everything else checks out ok...
SHHHHH! They think the only problem with the stock headgasket is the bolt torque specs. You start talking about the erosion problem and who knows what would happen!
Those BIC mounts look like they would make it pretty easy to drop the motor in. I actually cut a wedge out of the stock mounts on the crossmember and weld it back at a different angle, then the stock 89 up mounts and brackets that come on the clip work fine. But his are a simple bolt on affair...
