    a few rebuild questions

Potentially. The crank should be ok if it did overheat. I would be worried about the bearings. You might want to check those. Post up some pics Sam

    Where to go After BHG

Ian, you should get rid of "Grumpy Old Man" under your user name, replace it with "Helpful Old Man" haha I wish there were more guys like you on this forum. If I replaced the existing wires with some Tefzal wire and a Deutsch connector, is that going to be using the same plug as original...

    7mgte start, run for 2-3 seconds...then die...every time

Keep at it, don't become another sack-ridder like your co-worker. It is something electrical from you're description, maybe get a TSRM look at some wiring diagrams, check your grounds, etc. Sam

    a few rebuild questions

The only thing that would effect your compression ratio is the amount of material taken off of the head and block when it was machined and the HG you selected. Oversized pistons won't effect compression ratio. The only way you could measure it is by taking the measurement of the cyl. head...

Yes, the circled areas. As far as re-insulating, should electrical tape be used? or new wires? How should I go about doing that? Thanks, Sam

    Where to go After BHG

Close ups of the strange marks or the casting numbers? Way off topic here.. I pulled the cover off my CPS, I caught it before it was ever leaked into. Anyways, on one of the wires the insullation is cracked and I can see the wires. Is that gonna be an issue down the road? Thank you for the...

I really like it, but as mension'd... the whole 2-piece thing. Whats the material made of? I was thinking, maybe once its installed on the car and in place, you could heat the end of a flat head screw driver and kinda "melt the two pieces together" to blend the seam:naughty: Maybe? Maybe...

    Where to go After BHG

Thanks for the good idea regarding the cam bearing caps and about the plaque! I have no idea what the "melted" spots are. Theres a mark where every head bolt goes. Exactly. Thats why I want to do the motor right the first time. Once thats done there is always room for improvement...

    Where to go After BHG

Thanks for the reply, I just about positive that I'm gonna be going with forged internals. On my thread on SF, someone thought the 'Plaque' on the cyl. head was a junk-yard ID tag.. anyother thoughts on that? My question now is regarding the cam bearing surfaces. If they get machined or...
