Jake- I say use the stock location. Allen, mk3forme, used a 3 way in his thread. I'm not using the factory gauge, so mine will go right into the block.
Jake, My guy told me, if I get the correct die that matches the threads on the block you can run the die over the threads on the oil sender (mine is super close to the same size.) The threads on the block are a little deeper, so the die will just slightly reshape the existing threads.

I took all the seats out, the carpets are scrubbed and vacuumed, and there is a dehumidifier in there overnight. I already had a car with a musty rank odor from water years ago. I caught this one right away, so that won't happen.
