bowsercake: If the threaded shock shaft spins when you try to tighten the nut, the upper mount is junk.
It is supposed to be "D" shaped to allow the strut to not turn when you try to tighten the nut.
Looks like you're ordering some new rear upper shock mounts.
They're not too much anyway.
Damn you. You got the last kit evar? That's not fair.
Anyhow:
Those bolts DO come out like normal bolts. They're just "D" shaped all the way down so the cam can ride on the bolt.
The cam at the bolt's head is a part of the bolt. No removing it there.
You are correct in thinking you will do...
Pull the cable off of the handle/lever, and also at the latch in the rear.
Check to see if the handle moves freely.
Check to see if cable moves freely.
Check to see if latch moves freely.
Take lock cylinder and clean up any/all corrosion. Let soak for at least a couple hours in a container...
Take a run down to the local parts store and find yourself the best penetrating oil they can give you.
If you can get PB Blaster, get it.
If not that, then Liquid Wrench, or there's one made by Zep that's apparently very good.
Inquire about PB Blaster if you don't find it.
