Code 71 is EGR temp sensor problem for California certified cars only? Since you say the EGR is removed, this is hardly surprising. Won't be the cause of your problems though. Is your SSQV recirculated?

TIV is a JWS 3309 spec oil. I know for a fact that Dexron III in a tranny requiring JWS 3309 (like recent Aisin 5 and 6 speeds ) will cause failure in short order. Whether it is backwards compatible I don't know, but I would stick with Dexron III for the A340E unless you are sure TIV is...
