It's a plastic paint I bought at a hobby store... I have no idea what brand since it was many years ago. Light sanding and several coats. Did the vents too, but they're flaking now. :(

Flux core wire, yes. So far it's run smoothly with everything I've thrown at it... melted a decent size hole in 304SS. :) So in conclusion, my purchase has worked out just fine.

The SPEC pp is a painted stock pp.... it's crimped or something to increase clamping force.

I'm just using flux... gasless. Is "porosity" what you meant? If so, there aren't many pores in the weld since I grind them down they're full and solid. Welds aren't 50% cold or 50% hot... just right. :) you can follow the heat under the pipe all the way around. LOT'S OF FUN!

Just as an update... I made my first project today: my WG dump tube! Found out it wasn't angled right... so I had to cut it apart and re-try... now it looks like crap! :) I'll take pics later I guess. :) Greatest grinding wheel ever invented! Not necessarily the brand... but the wheel.

I thought the Spec 3+ only came in full face.. that'd be sweet.
