Hmm interesting question. If you were boosting at say 25psi on an internal wastegate with its boost/pressure source on the compressor housing, and you blew the IC pipe off the turbo... that's almost the same thing as blowing off the vacuum source, which would definitely mean the turbo's...

A likely answer would be improper break in procedure and/or too short of time period. How did you go about breaking in this clutch?

Yeah, it's definitely not impossible as I've done it as well. I also used an extension with a swivel piece to get the furthest nut. Good luck.

What? You can wire it all up.. but leave out the sensor, sure.

It's simple really. If the sensor has 2 plugs coming of it. Two wires for the sensor, one goes to one tab off the sensor, and one goes to the other. Have pictures?
