Clean and tighten the battery cables

Gonna hijack this a little. Can someone post a link to the whiteline's please? Been looking for them for a while, but can't seem to find them for the mkiii.

Yeah, me to. This is one of the best threads I've read in a long time, and extremely interested in the outcome.

Getting the Comp. BBC inner valve springs. Have a local Comp dealer here that I can get them through cheaper than Summit, but he had to order them. Don't have the money for the full Ferrea set-up, and I'm getting tight on time on this one.

Ha ha... Mine are sitting in my tool box awaiting valve springs so the head can go to the shop(I get them next week). I was seriously thinking about getting different cams, to. Meh, we'll see what happens...

Disconnect the battery, and put gas saver(like Stabil, maybe) in it.

Never drove a mkiii in the snow, but had a mkii in N.J. that did pretty good with all weather tires.

^^ +1 I just did head gaskets on a 92 Explorer today, and it took almost an hour for it to quit smoking. Doesn't help that I accidentally sprayed the hose down the exhaust when I was cleaning out the block.

It would be cool if it was done correctly, if only for originality. Too bad its a hack job.

Meh, my bumpers are rattle can primer white. If anyone bumps them, it leaves a nice white mark on their car. Did I do this on purpose? Yup... takes me 2 minutes to touch up my car. Takes them a bit longer to get that white mark off of theirs. Edit; I really dislike people who don't know...

I wonder if the vsv for the heater not opening fully could cause this symptom? I have no way to test it, as mine broke, and I had to remove it.

I would do it out of piece of mind. I don't remember where I saw it, but I know its either here or on SF. Pretty much anywhere I have a gasket covering the end of another gasket(oil pans, valve covers, etc.), I put a dab of silicone across there to insure a good seal. Oh yeah, and make...

I dunno, my car pulls fine up to 6k. 205,000+ miles, stock internals. Maybe 1 or 2 bolt-ons ;)

JKM3141: I know I saw it somewhere, but can't find it. There's a "how to" for the 7m hg. I think what you're talking about is putting silicone where the block and rear timing cover meet. If you miss that step, it'll leak oil there. I thought it was in Supracentral's "Important Links," but I...
