funny thing is that my home made 2 step does the same thing, sounds the same too, and cost me around 50 bucks to make, and spools the turbo around 4-5 psi and when i had my 4efte on my tercel it did the same

can this be of bad timing or wrong heat range on a spark plug? or bad octane level? just throwing some ideas

not sure if any one ever mentioned but check your spark plugs, are they dry or wet with oil, if its dry could be the turbo, or vice versa oil rings, and like every one said compression test, they sell one for 10 bucks at harbor freight, and works great

what kind of seats are those, and the brake master cylinder is that the stock or different, and the car looks very good

could be caused by your cracked intercooler pipe making it leak so your car is running rich, then making the car have a vacuum leak giving it extra air to get sucked in will be like giving the perfect air to fuel ratio
