    Its pretty dam loud tho. I'm talking about when he backs off the gas - like the bov is taking too long to open properly.... It could be compressor surge "just" before the BOV opens?

    I've yet to hear back from a guy in aussie who's worked on 1G's since day 1. I personally think you are right - GZE having lower compression but I respect Ron and his knowledge. I'll make a call tomorrow. By the way everyone - rebuilt the engine - new rings and GZE pistons in - running 1 bar...

    I WAS running about 13-14psi - because of the miss I didnt want to go any higher - good thing I didnt I wouldn't have an engine any more... I will be running 20-22psi when I've finished rebuilding my engine

    Yeah. I'll call my domain hoster and find out why. Maybe I missed a payment haha And the miss was caused by number 6 piston being broken. over an inch on the middle and upper ring landings were being held in place by the rings..... As seen in this thread...

    Yeah - you'd think that, but I know he IS running a GTE. He is using the GZE CPS and GZE cam covers and I THINK the later model GZE wasted spark coil packs. The fact that he's got an 00b3r poweful 1G in a Gemini should be evidence enough that you shouldn't rely on photo's :nono:

    Stupidly I didnt take pictures or measure the GZE pistons - but they do appear to have higher compression. The GZE pistons aren't as dished as the GTE's - they're "flatter" with a hump in the middle as well. So I'm still sticking with my story hehe :evil2:

    I was wrong sorry. the GTE has the lower compression of 8:1 and the GZE has 8.5:1 So I'll have a bit more compression now :)

    Strange thing is I didnt notice anything odd when I changed the rings 2,000km's ago...... But then again I didnt really inspect them properly and I didn't get them crack tested. So yeah - it could have happened ages ago. How's this for backwards, the rings were holding the landings in place...

    I did when I put them in. I cant remember what they were. I will check them when I put the GZE pistons in. Hopefully the GZE pistons have the oil return as drilled holes not slotted like those pistons....

    There is a chance it was detonating when I had the VPC in before I got it tuned..... I only had a phone camera at the time. I'll take some macro ones tonight - altho my flash blows out the picture. Well i've never had it hydrolocked. Unless somehow skirtloads of oil entered the bores.
