sounds like one of the pulleys seize or is gonna seize, that would cause the smell and sound, and if the belt is hot to touch. and the metal on metal....
maybe fire it up and see if all the pulleys are moving, then when you take off the belt see if they all spin by hand nice and easy.
thats prolly fine in miami and texas, but try that at -10...-20...-30...-40celsius and see what happens, not that i would drive my supra in the winter neways, but engines are engines.
