Here are some pics of my head(s). Only pictured one but they are both the same anyhow. I do plan an disassembling the heads and having them hot tanked as well as checking the valve seats.
Also, after talking to Jim at TPiS there may be a change of plans... These heads are going to yeild a...
Hmmm, I have drilled Brembo rotors. Mine came with my car, 3 years of owning and no sign of cracks and I drive my car hard often. Just sitting here I guess I can not say for sure, however my rotors' "chamfered" edges appear to be cast last I saw... I am of course referring to the rough, bumpy...
I installed the poly bushings in all of my arms. Mine were from SupraSport. I did not use a torch on the upper control arms. I simply pressed out the old bushings. Obviously being careful to support the arm in a way that it would not get bent. I then used a vise to side the sides of each...
No ETA yet. I still need to paint the entire interior, make a dash and door panels, get money for the guages, transmission and headers. I also need to install my fuel pump and get the engine/tranny mounted. So basically, I have a ways to go yet.
I just purchased a set of heads for my shortblock today. They are "862" casting LM7 heads. Basically same as LS1 heads but with a 61cc chamber vs a 66.6cc chamber. Probably close to 11.0:1 static compression ratio. I was going to go with LS6 heads but could not find them for the price I...
Frame/Suspension Parts will be semi-flat black. The body panels themselves will be a gloss black. Eventually I hope to make it two-tone again but for now I need paint that is easy to repair.
I made a stop at TPiS to give them the majority of what was left to pay for the shortblock. Also snapped a couple shots of it while I was there. Notice the "batwing" corvette oil pan :). Probably the best thing for a conventional style oil system (non-dry sump).
Car looks nice, paint is obviously newer. I do not like the clear turn signals, but aside from that it looks great. Just one problem I saw. You might want to hook up you brake boost manifold vacuum hose.
I would pin the input shaft back and forward and feel for roughness or noises. I would also engage the gears while turning the input shaft. If everything seems smooth I'd say it's ok to put in. If you go drive it and find the synchros are bad or something then no big deal. Pull the...
Could have been the mixture. The boiling point of your coolant depends on your ehylene glycol(Or "Dex-Cool", what you use)/water ratio. Hence the temp being where it should but the mixture still boiling over.
Do some indepent thinking. I do not know the answer. Is the cast heavier possibly? There is increased friction. Is the cast blade surface rougher? Increased friction, possibly less flow. Aside from that, if the dimensions are the same. Meaning, if it fits put it on. Someone designed that...
I haven't made many updates lately because my digital camera was under repair. Anyhow, I put a deposit down on an LS6 shortblock and am $200 from paying it off. However it will stay at TPiS until it is ready to install so I won't likely have any pics of it till later. I have however finished...
You can fill it through the front. As long as you can get the required amount in. Making sure the front end is higher than the rear will help. You should be able to put the rear on the ground and jack the front up and still get a hose or better yet, a tube in there.
However I like things...
