Brad, you may have your boost signal sourced wrong. I'm guessing it's right after the turbos and before the intercooler. The pressure drop isnt kind to the signal; you really want it right before the throttle body.

I think you just dont want both sides to have the gap at the same spot. Also having the gap near the notch(es) for simplicity. Just what I've heard.

Valve stem seals tend to just be a little puff on startup and little else, for the record. The oil change might just be a coincidence

Wow haha that thing is de-STROYED! Pretty intense heat on the flywheel too with it discolored like that. I was going to mention that driveshaft issues can be tough to diagnose at times, but that right here just might be your problem. It's definitely tough to argue against a lightweight one...

I personally say N/A-T, be it turboing your current engine or building a 7M-GTE to be ready to drop in. Regardless of what powertrain you use, you should really consider making sure the engine is healthy before doing all of the work involved in the swap. What good is dropping in a 1J or a 2J...

Good point, especially if the transmission has been remotely abused or still has factory oil in it. It's more than likely that the fluid and torque converter are both completely shot

Not that I know of, though to be fair, I'm not sure how much rain it has sat through. It is still sealed up with silicone IIRC, it just doesnt have much fancy trim around it.

Wow, that looks superb, Dan! I do need to replace that trim on my car. I had crappy brittle original trim that a windshield installer ripped out, and it has been empty ever since.

No, that's the joke. It's a modern "British roadster" in that it is a tiny, light chassis that's incredibly fun to drive, handles incredibly well, and has only just enough power. It has pretty much all of the aspects of one, except the reliability is the exact opposite.

Miata is still my DD of course. I drive it at least 140 miles a weekend or so. I changed the oil last year some time, but otherwise I did most of the maintenance when I bought the car and havent done too much to it in 2-3 years. The Miata really is the best British roadster ever made! :p
