That little guy is what your map sensor vacuum hose hooks up to. it is like a little dampner I believe. I think the 2jzgte usdm has one also, or try champion toyota and see what they can do for you. Edit:yes it is broken

what all did you remove from the harness? transmission stuff im sure, anything else? edit:did you shield your wires and then ground the shield for the crank and cam sensors and o2 sensors?

    CEL blinking under boost?

sounds like fuel cut, or lack there of. That psi boost are you running when this happens and if you have a wide band is it leaning out? Back when I had the 7m, overboost and lean would do this but could never get the code it kept throwing.

    CEL blinking under boost?

What code does it spit out? if you dont shut down the engine it should't erase any codes.

ATTN: 2JZ and 1JZ Soarer Swaps: Fuel Shutoff Safety Switch

Ooops, didn't think of that. I could only imagine how pissed I would be trying to find out why car wouldn't run all cuz alt wasn't charging. back to the drawing board....

For all you NA tach users...

I did this and it works, there is a website about this. I will post a link when I get home. Or google 1jz tach fix and it shows up I think. Its a good article on all the tachs, na has 30k resistor 7mT has 130k I think and 1j has 100k.

ATTN: 2JZ and 1JZ Soarer Swaps: Fuel Shutoff Safety Switch

Doesn't the Alt fuse only have power when the engine is running for charging purposes? Thats how I controlled my electric fan relay @ one time. Why not just wire the circuit opening relay to this?

ooh you know what, are you running a manual transmission on an auto ecu? My soarer ecu when shifting my auto it sounds like it flutters and breaks up. It is built into the ecu logic so that it doesn't give shift flare. nobody ever notices this until they put a noisy pipe on. it might be that...

Thats what I was thinking Elvis needs to do. He has tried several ecu's though hasn't he?

I just thought of something, IIRC your are running with an Aristo ecu no? which I think are equipped with 440 cc inj. and you installed larger? Do you have a SAFC? If so, your ecu is running closed loop up until it starts breaking up when open loop occurs, which in closed loop the ecu is...

    Breaking up around 3000rpm

It may be a PITA but you might just go ahead and get the ecu pinouts and start ohm'ing out the wires to see if something doesn't match.

    Breaking up around 3000rpm

When I stretched my harness, I noticed that the cam and crank sensor wires were twisted for noise reduction. I did the same with my extensions and I have not had this happen to me.

    Breaking up around 3000rpm

Has anybody gotten an ociliscope out the checked signals when this happens? I wonder if the crank sensor signal (N E) is being lost due to harmonics like a faulty crank pully or in the harness somewhere its not shielded. Just my 2¢.

    1JZ and W58 question.

I dont think you need the 1j flywheel, I think the 2jge wheel and clutch will work. I believe it will handle it just fine. The 1j doesn't put down the torque right off idle, just don't dump the clutch too many times. I know of a few 2jz-ge 5sp mkiv's that went turbo and have been doin ok.
