Okay, I think I've seen this somewhere before but I couldn't find it again and I know this has been done before. I plan on starting my 1JZ swap soon and I curently have a W58 trans that I would like to use.

What will I need to make the W58 work with the 1JZ?

So far I have found that I will need a 2JZ-GE NA W58 bellhousing, 1JZ flywheel. Is this correct?

And will this clutch/pressure plate kit work with this set-up?
SPEC Clutch Stage 2 7MGE from 935Motorsports.

The reason I don't want to go with the R-154 right away is because it's not quite in my budget at the moment due to school, and I'm tired of putting miles on my Nova. I Will not be driving it hard (until I get an R-154), so I'm not worried about blowing up the W58.

I dont think you need the 1j flywheel, I think the 2jge wheel and clutch will work. I believe it will handle it just fine. The 1j doesn't put down the torque right off idle, just don't dump the clutch too many times. I know of a few 2jz-ge 5sp mkiv's that went turbo and have been doin ok.

So a 1J or 2J-GE flywheel will work? Or does it have to be a 2J-GE flywheel and 2J-GE clutch setup? And does anyone know where I could get a 2JZ-GE bellhousing? I've been looking but no luck yet.

only a 2jz-ge flywheel will work with a w58 mated to a jz engine. i think you still have to use the 2jz-ge clutch as well, i think the 7m w58 pressure plate is different.

try the is300 forums for the bell housing and flywheel. but i tried searching a few years ago for about 3 months and no luck.

EDIT: just checked the part numbers for the pressure plates between 2j and 7m, and they are different for the NA's, so i guess you need a 2jz-ge pressure plate. discs are the same though
