Should I retrofit to r134a? or is r12 possible?

I vote for keeping the R12. Yes, I converted and did it properly, but when it is 100 degrees out I long for the R12 in stop-n-go traffic...

What does this wire near oil dipstick do?

Yes it would and that tube is easily bent so take care when taking out the switch. You need to have the system evacuated before removing it and preferably someplace that won't try to charge you for refilling it with the freon they just took out.

Need advice on what to do with the toyota service department.

Fight the power! As Jeff said, you can't change the water pump without touching the other stuff...that dealership owes you. On a side note, another reason not to trust the dealer is a friend of mine went to the local dealer to change the clutch for him and when he drove off, 2 blocks away...

A/C won't turn off: continuous run cold

When I had this problem many years ago, it turned out to be a mechanic setup up the magnetic clutch relay to be engaged whenever the blower fan in the cabin was turned on. He justification was "that's how Corvettes do it." Anyway, I have since fixed it. The relays I speak of are behind the...

Yep...got bored. Check it: You can see how the factory sender for the aux fan kick-on fits nice and snug in there. It extends just enough to not interfere with the thermostat, but it's close. Any pics of the Spal sender??? Not that hard to do, either. Only took about five minutes!

What is the size thread you need? My Autometer gauge was only 1/8 NPT. The blank is fairly large and if you remove the thermostat housing first you can see exactly where you will be drilling. There are also thread reducers you could use, but it might keep the sensor farther away from the...

    Electric Fan Install Advice Needed

If you're looking for a spot to mount a sensor there is a blank spot on most cars right behind the thermostat housing cover and right above the factory gauge temp sensor. I drilled and tapped a hole there to mount my sensor for an Autometer water gauge. It might have something to do with...
