Which clutch is best for daily street driving?

I've used a SPEC stage 2 in the past, and I quite liked it. It's a full-face with nearly stock feel, I would have no hesitation daily driving on it. A good upgrade without going "too far". With your power goals, I'd look into a SPEC Stage 2+ or 3+, both are full-face and hold more power than...

Who has a running 1JZ-GTE VVTi swap?

Hey everyone - I've recently been getting quite serious about doing a 1JZ swap on my car, and I've been thinking very hard about getting a 1JZ VVTi. I've seen a few threads about these motors, and a few people talk about swapping them, but it seems like very few have completed the swap all the...

Well, I've been making some decisions recently. I have decided I will *not* be building the 7M for power, so that leaves me with one decision: 1. Do a simple/basic rebuild so I can enjoy the car for the time being, saving for a JZ swap. 2. Swap now! This has sort of lit a fire under my ass, as...

If you're an mk3 owner: How do you respond when someone says, "It's just not a mk4"

Oops, my bad. Pro thread derailer reporting. I like my car, and I feel like most of the people here like their cars too. Heck, I even like other people's cars.

If you're an mk3 owner: How do you respond when someone says, "It's just not a mk4"

This is pretty true I think. The MKIV is better in pretty much every objective way...except no telescoping steering wheel? Fuck that. Also, Going a little off topic here, but to the OP: It's A MKIII, NOT AN MKIII

If you're an mk3 owner: How do you respond when someone says, "It's just not a mk4"

I always just downplay my car too far in the other direction. "It's just an old slow piece of junk." etc. etc. (Even though it's actually pretty nice.) People have a hard time insulting your car when you've already insulted it more.

Or I just buy the V and drive that, no need to swap it into a Supra. :)

    What color to paint engine/block

I'm going to be doing this shortly, and I'll probably go with a lighter color, like silver. Always nice to be able to track down oil leaks easier. :)

Suggestions on down pipes, and exhaust in general

In for pics of the girlfriend. She needs to be wearing either an exhaust or a dress. Go.

    Recirculating BOV/BPV. Let's see them.

What size turbo do you have? I'm not sure the accordion hose is really your problem yet. Those Bosch valves are really unpredictable on how well they work. I went to the local pick-n-pull and grabbed maybe 4-5 of them, and kept trying them until I found a good one. My 110 (Porsche/awesome/etc.)...

    Recirculating BOV/BPV. Let's see them.

Take a look at the part # on the Bosch BPV you're running. I've used a 103, 108, and 110. I don't remember specifics, but some were certainly more capable than others. I had one that could only handle stock boost on a CT-26 (above 9-10 PSI would surge), and others that were good all the way up...

    Recirculating BOV/BPV. Let's see them.

+1 to TurboSmart. I have a TurboSmart Kompact Plumb Back. Fits great, sounds kinda neat, no surge, doesn't leak boost. Admittedly the furthest I've taken it is on a stock CT-26 @ ~12psi, but it's the best stock replacement out there imho. (I've had several Saabs in the past, the work great, but...

What can you tell me about this swap? My initial research is pointing me to quite a list of questions: 1. Is there a downpipe I can use? I don't have access to a welder, so it would be $$$ to get one made for me by a shop, though this isn't a killer. 2. Did some of these engines have...

Thanks! I've really liked this car so far. It's rust free, looks good, and has had a nice "solid" feel to it. I've put 7,000 miles on it since May! I'm bummed about the rodknock, but getting down about what happened isn't going to fix the engine. With the consult of Steve, I suspect two...
