If you want to do it 3/4 right just go ahead and take the head off and replace the head gasket and use ARP studs.
If you want to do it the complete right way, tear down the motor and get the head and block machined and use a metal headgasket.

I know the Nascar "Thunder Gun" we use on the racecar has enough torque to pull the studs through their heads and through the hub..and thats with the air turned down to 100psi..

Its not a bad idea while you have the VC's off. Loosen them one at a time and then retorque to 72ft/lbs in the proper sequence.

Well if 400 is the most power you are looking for, maybe what you originally planned is best. A piggyback would be perfect for that. Maft pro has the ability to run in speed density, ditching the afm or maf in the process which means you also never have to worry about popping an intercooler...
