DT: Thanks for the links! Those will certainly help in the near future. SH: I'm sure I will have questions along the way! Try not to fall off any roofs before then! :)

Finishing a basement: good books to read?

Greetings! We just bought a new house and looking to redo some of the basement that the previous owners tried to finish. Do some of you out there who might have done this before have suggestions about books to read on the topic? Possibilities we are considering are just having a play...

Leaking transmission: intermediate plate or output shaft seal?

I seem to make about a dime sized spot of transmission fluid when I leave the car overnight. It's a stock R154 on a 1989. It has a one-piece Al driveshaft and it pools directly under what appears to be the intermediate plate. Is this common, or is it more likely coming from the back of the...

    Maft Pro and Wideband

If you guys look into some of the possible solutions for the uplugged stock O2 sensor, all you really need is a 1/4 to 1/2 watt 1kohm resistor plugged into the stock harness and it'll keep the CEL from illuminating. Like some of the others here, I was timid about doing this at first, but now...

    hks dli?

Like I said, I think it's more of a placebo effect. There was no difference with it connected or bypassed. It was actually easier for the dyno to pickup the tach signal bypassed, actually. Anyway...like the other guys said, check your coilpacks per the TSRM and make sure they are grounded...

    hks dli?

    1. I have it installed 2. Very easy to install...just follow the directions...not very difficult wiring at all 3. I can't tell if it made a difference on a dyno...ran it plugged in and also bypassed and the results were very close to the same. Oops...reverse 2 and 3. Anyway, I'd put your...

    Heat not working.

IIRC, the solenoid will cut off any hot water going to your heater core once you set the temp control to the coldest setting (65* in the digital readout). The flapper door will help control the temp, it's just that the solenoid was always keeping the hot coolant away from your core. I had this...

    brakes won't bleed :(

FWIW, I had a very similar problem to you and it turned out that two reman master cylinders I got from O'Reilly's were both bad. After I went and got a brand new one from my Toyota dealership, I had no problems. I can't explain why, but a new cylinder solved my troubles when the remans...

Replaced master cylinder; trouble with bleeding.

Long story short...2 reman master cylinders were both bad and bought a brand new Toyota one with a discount and all is well! Can't explain why the remans were bad, but I shouldn't have to worry about it for another 20 years since the one I replaced was the original...

Replaced master cylinder; trouble with bleeding.

Thanks, JJ! I called my local Autozone and they have a pump I think I can use to push the fluid forward from the bleeders. If not, I can at least still try to suck it through...we'll see.

Replaced master cylinder; trouble with bleeding.

UPDATE: Well, I finally had some more time to finally try to deal with this and I successfully bench-bled the new master cylinder replacement. I put it on, but still can't get any fluid to come through the rear brake lines. The booster is good per the TSRM test and the only thing I can think...

Doc, sorry man! Yes, I meant the new one. I keep forgetting this is the second iteration of it. The original still probably works better...

Air force KC-45 Boeing or Northrop Grumman POLL

The Tweet maybe...but most T-6's aren't even 10 years old yet. There was something the FAA found during an inspection that made them come up with that rule. In addition, if an airplane has less than 400 hours on the motor, it used to be flown only in day, VMC, with an IP on board. Now they...

Air force KC-45 Boeing or Northrop Grumman POLL

I'm note going to vote because I don't know enough about NG, but I think Boeing has had a lot of questionable practices in the past with the Air Force and contracts. There was that whole deal a few years back on this same topic with the Air Force female got sent to prison, too. For example, I...

Replaced master cylinder; trouble with bleeding.

Well, I loosened the bolts holding the cylinder to the booster and tried again. The line went on fine, but when the pedal was pushed, the fluid was leaking around the threads this time. Oh, well, I'll give this one back and get a genuine one from Toyota...
