What type of metering system are you using to get rid of the AFM? BTW, that's the exact same filter I've got on mine, you're the only other person I've seen using that ;).
There are certain types of paint that will transfer the heat off the intercooler better than others. IIRC the stock oil cooler and intercooler have some type of paint like what I'm talking about on them...

Why did you stop at 6K RPMs? And I would also wait until you've got acurate afr readings to tune with. I'd say you are running pig rich, that afr number may not be off that much!
If you don't take out the engine an do the Cometic, you could possibly buy a lapping block and DIY while still in the car, but you are really taking a big gamble on knowing if the block is flat enough. It may run just fine for the entire time you have the car, some people have that kinda luck...
