There are actually 3 supports on the exhaust side, one on the bottom of the manifold, a lower one on the turbo (looks like the one for the intake) and an upper one that bolts to the head.
Turbo side needs the braces unless you like pulling the studs out of the head and like retorquing all the fasteners on that side of the engine. Oh, and BULLSHIT to the brace not being needed on the power steering pump. If it's loose or missing the belt will flip over or be flung (don't argue...

No, new cars are already broken in for the most part. Just don't abuse them. Motorcycles on the other hand have to be broken in.
I usually recommend stock boost, or if you're really anal, disconnect the wastegate arm so it stays open (of course that's not going to work with a DDP...) Engine braking is very important as well...
They're called blinders and they're to stop direct view of the bulb. The reflector is what actually shapes the beam and puts it where it's supposed to go. If they're dim, replace the bulbs and clean the wiring (or rewire with relays). Also, the inside chroming on the reflector may be coming...
