Just to elaborate, that's based mostly off the fact that taking off the turbos is a serious pain the ass and I'm just really lazy. It's a worthwhile mod, though.

That car dyno'd low at 250hp, IMO. A healthy 1J should be doing more than that. We've had cars down here put down at least 20hp more than that with the same simple mods.

Unless you have the turbos off for a reason already, it's not worth doing. I have one and I did the mod at the same time as swapping out some blown turbos. I wouldn't have bothered if I didn't have to take the turbos off anyway. Is the difference noticeable? Sure. Is it worth the time and...

No way. A stock 1J will not put down 232 unless it's been seriously neglected and has problems.

I dunno about that... The 'sweet spot' for stock twins is between 3k-7k. Not hard to find a good gear at any speed with any diff.

How much tuning did you do with the AFC? Did you just do a -30 with the 550s of did you do more fine tuning based on the AFRs on the dyno? Just curious to get a better feel on how much power you made based on the simplicity of the setup and tune.

I put mine in with a 3.73 for my setup instead. Looks about right! 2nd gear tops around 70...and 3rd gear all the way to 100. fun stuff!! I really like the 3.73 rear end.

Sometimes I do that on purpose. I figure, if I just pulled out in front from the start and won then they will feel kinda bad. But if I start behind and they think they're winning, the ego drop from being confident to getting punked from behind is much more embarassing. :) That and I don't...
