you can use any p/s resovoir you want, that drawing at the top of the page is a good one. Remove the high pressure line, right next to it is the line to the cooler (the green line in the picture above) you remove that too and everything connected to the power steering system in...

if pump wasnt working you wouldnt have an engine to start.
what guage are you using? its easy enough to install an external one and check, just take off your current sensor

check your lines the power steering system is really simple all lines from the rack go under your car to the pump then they route to the cooler in front of your car depending on your year
p/s lines get pretty cheap at a local parts store. i think i still have mine i am too lazy to post for sale
to eliminate the turbo lines (which if you never replaced them... that might be whats it) tap the line with a wrench and it might just be leaking somewhere. that was caused the same...
